Plan the perfect outdoor event

When planning an outdoor event it’s best to leave it to the professionals, we’ll do all the work so you can take all the credit. We’ll talk you through the many options across Menu selection, location scouting, outdoor equipment settings, adding some entertainment and get to and from the location.

Menus
There are a number of different menu styles that work perfectly for an outdoor event. Choose to have a classic tray service of finger food items and substantial canapés for a more traditional affair or perhaps a grazing table laden with the seasons best produce and boards of artisan charcuterie, cheeses and grilled vegetables. The grazing table forms a centrepiece which is both visually striking and also a talking point amongst guests. Another outdoor event concept which is proving to be extremely popular is to have a number of food stations bordering the event space. This invites guests to visit the different stations to collect food from different geographical destinations. Each of the event food stations is themed differently giving an ‘around the world’ feel to the occasion. This ticks the visuals box with the food stations creating a contained space and promoting an festive outdoor atmosphere.

Locations
Location, location, location… Sydney is home to some of the most beautiful outdoor event spaces. These are scattered throughout the Eastern suburbs, Central Sydney, the Inner west and the North shore. They range from council run parks with covered spaces to private venues without expansive outdoor spaces. Once example of this is the Hughenden run event spaces at Centennial parklands which includes the Rangers residence and the Superintendents residence. These two spaces have the added advantage of indoor space with large outdoor event spaces.

Equipment
Set the scene at your event and decorate the outdoor space with furniture that also will provide additional comfort to your guests. With the addition of some key pieces of outdoor furniture and props like deck chairs, bean bag couches, hay bales and low picnic tables with cushions.

Entertainment
Entertaining in the great outdoors is inherently festive but you can always add some additional entertainment to heighten the fun factor. Organise to have a Tarot Card reader perform insightful reading with your guests. This becomes a great talking point for the event and helps the guests to connect with each other in a more authentic way. A petting zoo for children is a great way to entertain children of all ages whilst teaching them about different animals.

Transportation
Getting your guests to your chosen outdoor location need not become a hassle. Organise some shuttle buses at a number of set times allowing people to choose their arrival time. Alternatively, if your outdoor event is being held at a waterfront location, you could organise a number of water taxis to ferry your guests to and from the location. This also ads an element of adventure to the occasion and reinforces the outdoor nature of the event.
